About Malta
Some of the advantages and services the Island of Malta has to offer to
our clients.
The Malta Advantage
Superbly Located, Malta is at the heart of the Mediterranean,
equidistant from Europe and Africa, Gibraltar and the Suez Canal.
Together with its unrivalled geographic position, Malta also enjoys
outstanding travel links with the rest of the world. Malta’s unique
position affords easy access to these markets and beyond.
European in attitude, custom and lifestyle, the Maltese have developed a
vibrant, stable economy. They have highly skilled, professional services
available covering all aspects of commerce, law, insurance and banking
etc.
Then consider some of the extra benefits Malta can offer: a climate
which is warm and healthy; a well-trained and disciplined workforce
available at rates generally lower than other European centres;
attractive flexibility for non-residents in terms of offshore trust
status and double taxation exemption treaties.
The Malta Maritime Attractions
Straddling the main Mediterranean shipping lanes, a call at Malta means
no deviation from a planned voyage.
Malta’s coastline is well indented with natural Harbours as well as
established ports. Historically, these ports have established the
islands as a centre for Mediterranean Commerce, combining old world
charm with modern facilities. At the centre of countless shipping
routes, these ports provide a wide variety of professional shipping
services of value to major commercial entities. The Grand Harbour of
Valletta is Malta’s main port, one of the most spectacular natural deep
water harbours in the Mediterranean. This port, girdled as it is by an
uninterrupted line of historic fortifications of massive proportions, is
becoming an ever increasingly popular port for cruise passengers and the
related ever growing cruise industry. The Malta Freeport, situated at
the south eastern tip of Malta, has become an important transhipment
centre in the Mediterranean. Apart from acting as a safe and secure
haven for seafaring vessels of all types and sizes, the Grand harbour
and Malta Freeport also offers a comprehensive service covering all
maritime requirements, service that reflects the care, commitment and
knowledge that the Maltese maritime community is today well renowned
for.
Once in Malta, the Valletta Grand Harbour has established itself with no
navigational difficulties. Valletta Grand harbour handles all cruise
liners visiting Malta and Roro vessels carrying passengers, cars,
conventional cargo and trailers. Containers are also unloaded but the
bulk is handled in the Freeport. There are transit sheds totally 8500
square meters as well as other open storage space and also an 86,000
tonnes capacity Grain Silo
