Valletta Gateway Terminal
Valletta Gateway Terminal [VGT] operating the cargo (quay) facilities in Grand harbour is a Joint Venture between Portek Group of Singapore and Tumas Group of Malta and was established in June 2006.
The facilities offered by VGT include 560 meters of quay and 7,200 meters of sheds [surrounded by ample storage space in an open floor area] at the Deep Water Quay [DWQ] at Marsa, in the inner part of the Grand Harbour. This area is mostly targeted for handling of RoRo and other conventional type cargo.
Laboratory Wharf situated opposite to the DWQ on the southern side of the Grand Harbour offers a variety of services including handling of RoRo, conventional cargo, containers and cars. The area also has a large compound totalling 10,400 square meters suitable for storage of vehicles, both for domestic as well as transhipment purposes.
